Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns the Domain Name?
You do! The Domain is in your name.
How Many Domain Names can I register?
You can register as many as you want. In fact registering same domain with other extentions give you more marketablity for the search engines and at the same time keeps away anyone registering same name domain. For example registering finance.com.au you would be also advised and in the long run better off registering .com version of the same domain name at the same time.
How much does a Domain Name cost?
It depends on the extention. Australian .com.au domains are registered for two (2) years. Please

When will my new domain be ready?
Within minutes. OAVS offers the fastest possible domain
registration on the Web. The second your new domain order is processed we send
it to the Domain Registry. At the same time, it is being entered
into our DNS. Please note that, because external networks are
involved, it may take up to 72 hours for worldwide use.
How does the 48-hour Domain Satisfaction work?
If you make a mistake on the spelling when choosing your domain name, don’t worry! Contact us within 48 hours, and we’ll cancel your wrong domain, give you a refund, then sign up a new one.
What is the difference between a DNS transfer and a registrar transfer?
The difference basically comes down to billing. With a DNS transfer only,
the registration of your Domain Name stays with whichever company you originally
registered the name with. Therefore, you will be billed by that company and pay
whatever the going rates are for Domain Names at the time of your renewal.
With a registrar transfer, your registration / billing moves to OAVS, and
you will be billed at OAVS rates. This could potentially save you a lot of
money as some registrars charge a lot more than OAVS for Domain Names.
How do I execute a registrar transfer for my Domain Name that I registered elsewhere?
Click here to use the transfer option. The transfer process to OAVS is free. You will, however, be required to pay to renew your domain as soon as you initiate your registrar transfer.
Is there anything else I need to know about switching registrars?
Yes. First of all, you must be the owner of the Domain Name, or have permission to switch
registrars. Also, the Domain Name must be UNLOCKED. This is a security measure put in
place by your registrar. Consult with your registrar in order to have your Domain Name
unlocked if you wish to switch registrars.
I just bought a Domain Name from OAVS. How do I point it to my website hosted by another company?
Create a Domain pointer by logging into the Members Control Panel and clicking the Domain tab. Then follow the onscreen prompts to configure the forwarding location of the pointer domain.
If I already have a Domain Name with another company, can I host my website with OAVS?
When you use the DNS transfer option contact your existing Domain registrar and point your Name Servers to:
Primary Name Server:
ns1.iprimus.com.au
Secondary Name Server:
ns2.iprimus.com.au
